I beat the game and here's is some thoughts:

Good level design, graphic is simple but nice and unique, juicy combat, boss fight is challenge but still fair, music have some memorable melody.

Overall really enjoy it and highly recommend.

Thanks :D

ok im rage quiting on boss 2 ... seems totally unbeatable to me but there must be a way i guess  ?

a shame as i love the rest of the game ive seen so far , cant get my head around why a dev would include such a massive difficulty spike like this and potentially stop players from seeing the rest of their work ?

oh well ...

i don't blame you, my game  was design to be challenge ( because i enjoy playing challenge  game like dark soul series, celeste, cuphead .... so i want my game aslo have a challenge gameplay like that )

if you still want to beat my game, i can send you a video how i beat that boss so you could learn from it and try again.

if you could that would be great ! does it involve shooting down when jumping ? thats my last guess at what to do  :)

Hmm, i can't send you a video here, other people may watch it and get spoiled.

Can you let me know your email so that i can send you a video ?

Hi.

Nice game.

1.- But sometimes after death character appears in a random location in the map, sometimes after a boss or inside one.

2.-  Map resets in some zones and hide zones already visited.

3.- Need some correction in the use of move_and_slide physics, slide too much and falling is too fast.

Maybe some is fixed in 1.02?

The bugs you mentioned has been fix in 1.01

v1.02 is a version i try balance the difficulty and  other thing to make game more enjoyable

Nice!

early thoughts - great looking and playing game , just up my my street ! but - the first boss is way too hard , too random and too fast... ive just spent 30 minutes trying to pass it with no luck so its kind of offputting

just hope  this one is a blip and the difficulty curve is better further on

The first boss is not that hard ( the gif above is a footage i fight that boss ), keep trying and learning boss move set then you will defeat it in no time ... I just hope you don't rage quit soon

yeah , got it done  - wasnt aware you could hit it from the front as i tried it the first few times and couldnt get any hits to register ?

so from then on only tried hitting it at the back !

now im struggling with the 2nd boss  lol

How long you making the game?

About 10 months, why you ask ?

Really enjoyed this and definitely would recommend - here’s some more thoughts:

Ashtory  combines challenging combat and platforming with a semi-open world structure. The gameplay is pretty refined and addicting.

It’s pretty much linear, with a little bit of optional backtracking and some splitting paths. The world isn’t really interconnected and there is only one actual shortcut. It also has no mobility upgrades - only weapons… so it is only borderline a metroidvania.

That said, the gameplay feels good, the challenges are tough, and I had a pretty great time.

Thank sam :D
